L-1 The Adult Education and Economic Growth Act (H.3238) - introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives July 16, 2009 by Congressman Patrick Kennedy (RI) and Ruben Hinojosa (TX). The AEEGA reflects many of the major recommendations and findings of Reach Higher, America, the final report of the National Commission on Adult Literacy. The corresponding Senate bill (S.1468) was also introduced on July 16th by Senators Jim Webb (VA) and Sherrod Brown (OH). This PDF copy of the House bill incorporates at the end two documents prepared by House staff to clarify the intent and main purposes of the AEEGA.
